Privacy Policy

This policy explains what RideBlnk Technologies collects through the Ride Blnk service, our driver and parent apps, and this website — and what we do with it.

Who we are

RideBlnk Technologies (“Ride Blnk”, “we”, “us”) provides school transport safety software. Schools and transport operators use our service to run bus routes; parents and guardians use it to follow their child’s ride.

We generally act on behalf of the school or transport operator that holds the account. They decide who is enrolled and what student information is entered. If you want your information changed or removed, contacting your school directly is often the fastest route — but you can always write to us and we will help.

What we collect

  • Account details. Name, username or email, phone number where provided, and role — parent, driver or staff. These are created by your school or operator, not by us.
  • Student details. Student name and assigned stop or route, entered by the school so the right bus can be matched to the right family.
  • Vehicle location and trip records. Position, speed and trip start and end times from the GPS device fitted to the bus, plus route and schedule information.
  • Notification tokens. The parent app registers a device token so we can deliver alerts about the ride.

Location, specifically

The moving bus you see on the map is the location of the vehicle’s GPS device, not of anyone’s phone.

  • Parent app. We do not collect your phone’s location. If the map shows where you are, that is drawn by your device’s own map layer and stays on your device.
  • Driver app. The app asks for location permission so it can show the driver their own position while following a route. That position is used on the device to draw the map. It is not transmitted to us and we do not store it.

What we don’t do

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it with data brokers, we do not use it for advertising, and there is no advertising or analytics tracking on this website.

Children’s information

Our apps are intended for adults — parents and guardians, drivers, and school staff. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Student information reaches us from the school or transport operator as part of running the bus service, and is used only for that purpose.

Who we share it with

Only the providers needed to run the service, each handling information on our instructions:

  • Yatis — the telematics platform that receives the bus device’s data and hosts the service backend.
  • Google — Maps, for displaying maps and routes; and Firebase Cloud Messaging, for delivering notifications.
  • Vercel — hosting for this website.
  • Zoho — our business email.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.

How long we keep it

Account and student information is kept while the school or operator’s service is active, and deleted or returned afterwards unless we are required to retain it. Trip and location records are kept for the operational and safety-review period agreed with the school.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Where the school is the controller of that information we will pass your request to them and support it. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them — and, as above, we do not sell or share personal information.

Write to privacy@rideblnk.com and we will respond. To have your account data removed, the steps and what is kept are set out on Delete your data.

Security

Traffic between the apps and our services is encrypted in transit, and access to account data is restricted to people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep this under review rather than claiming otherwise.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page, and tell users in the app where the change is significant.
